Wednesday, June 30

We spent the morning at the beach.

Watching the storm move in.

The tar was still really bad, we could not walk to ocean without getting some on our feet.

It did pour down rain around 12:00.
We ran a few errands and had lunch at The Hangout, our new favorite spot.

While we were eating lunch we asked about the foam machine we had played in on Monday. We were told they turn in on every 2 hours but had not today because of the weather. It was clearing up, our waiter told us the manager said they could turn on the foam for us after lunch!

The kids had all the foam to themselves.

We were smart today and had they wear bathing suits.

It was awesome!!!

Tuesday, June 29

Storm yesterday and Hurricane Alex in the Gulf cause tons of oil to wash up on shore.

The white beaches were lined with brown tar balls.

A sad sight to see.

Popsicles by the pool.

Cleaning crews were out in full force this afternoon.

The tar tends to stick to your feet.

Thunderstorms on Monday, June 28

Thunderstorms made it a good day to go check out Adventure Island Arcade.

Grams, Jeremiah, Lexi and I had a blast playing games.

We took the kids to The Hangout.

They have a huge play area.

The weather cleared up a little. We were able to play for a while.

The Hangout is a super fun place!!

While we were eating lunch, they turned on the foam machine. The kids ran to check it out. There was also a limbo contest.

There was a huge cleaning crew on the beach this evening.

Goodbye Dad (Sunday, June 27)

Sunday morning we spent a few hours on the beach before Troy had to leave.

The waves we coming up a lot higher today leaving water on the beach. At the kids' request we built a dam with the sand.

We got the water to back up pretty good.

But then the dam broke. And we had to shower and take Troy to the airport. We were all SUPER sad he had to leave.

He flew out of Pensacola. We had not seen too much oil in Perdido Key but had heard it was really bad in Pensacola so I decided to take the kids to see the oil. Here were are at a nature preserve along the coast.

Pensacola Beach

Although we saw little tar along the beach in Pensacola, we could smell it and saw tons of trucks working.

We could see stains on the beach where the tar had been cleaned.

After we returned from our trip to Pensacola we hung out in the pool. All three kids have become fabulous swimmers.

Back at the beach for a bit.

Watching my children play, listening to the waves roll in, watching the sun go down, life is good.

Only wish Troy was still here.

Swimming in the dark was one of my favorite things to do as a child.

Saturday, June 26, 2010

Courtney and her crew joined us on the in the morning before heading home. We had a blast seeing everyone and were sad to see them go.

Feeding the seagulls.

It's crazy how close they get.

And how many friends they have.

Lexi and Dad.

Miles loved his turtle. We hooked it to the boat and we went along for the ride.

Thanks Dad for making so many trips out to sea. We loved it!!!

Grams and Pops heading for the sand bar.

We left the sleeping kids with Grams. Troy and I went out for his last night in Florida. We played some ping pong and had a beer at the Hang Out in Orange Beach. Then we took a full moon walk along the beach, celebrating the wonderful 12 days, laughing, playing and making memories!!
