I loaded the car, woke the kids to say our goodbyes to Grams and we pulled away from Perdido Key at 6:00am.
We stopped a few hours later in Mobile, AL because Jeremiah wanted to go see that "big ship".
Going up a level.
There are some big torpedoes on this battleship.
Down to another level. We did a lot of up and down on these "scary stairs" as the self-guided tour leads you all around 8 levels. Miles was a little scared the first few times, but got the hang of it quickly.
Such a fun stop! It took us 2 and a half hours but we saw it all. Jeremiah was really impressed.
We drove the rest of the day, stopping every few hours for a potty break or to play at a McDonald's play place. The kids were great in the car. I'm amazed by how well they behave this entire trip. We once again passed the time on the road with car games and little wrapped presents I had brought along. We got excited evertime we crossed a state line. About 6:15pm we got into Shreveport. The "9 hour drive" only took us 12 but we were all still smiling.
We went to Gammaw and a Gampaw's for Johnny's Pizza(my favorite). Uncle Ed, Aunt Dorris, my cousin Edwin and Aunt Nancy Jane all came to visit with us. I was thrilled to see them all, it had been way too long.
