Girls On The Run

Girls on The Run is a super cool new running program which started at our school this year.
Lexi joined about 40 other girls in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade train twice a week for 8 weeks.
Not only did they run and learn that running is always an outlet, they learned to block the negative and look for the positive in all girls.
They also learned to lean on each other as girls ROCK!
And they learned to set goals and see them through!  At the beginning of the program, all the girls set the goal of completing a 5K.  They could walk or run it as long as it was done with joy.

November 5, 2011 was the big day!
We went to Steamboat for the Girls on the Run 5K.
Here is Lexi's support team!

Chilling with some good friends before the race,

Time to warm up!
Lexi with friend Amanda, getting ready to run!

The crew from Summit Cove.
Not only was it a great group of girls, they had an amazing group of lady coaches including the school Principal and several teachers.
And they're off.
Rachel and Miles cheering Lexi on.
All of the sudden, we noticed Jeremiah was gone......
Well, he had mentioned wanted to run in the race..............
After looking around for a few minutes, we realized he must have taken off with Lexi.

And sure enough, he had run the 5K too and ran into the finish line next to his sister, cheering her on.
Way to go Lexi!  We are proud of you for setting a goal and accomplishing it!!

Halloween 2011

Working on the Frankenstein marshmallows we make for the kids classes every year.

Rachel and Amanda came to give us a hand.

Miles' class party.  His friends loved him!

Jeremiah with friend, Adam at the Silverthorne pumpkin patch

It's not easy being a Lego......hard to pick up anything.

Miles found a big pumpkin and sat on it to claim it since it was too big for him to carry.

We won the A-Basin costume contest which was 4 tickets to the Avalanche game.
Troy and I went down with some friends.

Jeremiah and Magnus heading out to trick-or-treat.

Checking out all the loot.

Halloween costumes 2012

Lego family
Troy worked super hard on our costumes this year!
The idea can to mind at the end of August.

On September 11, the work began.

The cardboard bodies involved a lot of measuring and figuring.
Troy wanted them to be to scale but we had to make a few adjustments.
Cardboard from the recycling and duct tape were the main supplies.

The head was made from Styrofoam insulation.  I know, I know, Styrofoam is bad for the Earth as Miles would tell us but you will all be happy to know, this Styrofoam was in a dumpster on it's way to the landfill and we gave it one more life.

Cutting this stuff in the living room is a bit messy but it cleans up pretty easily.

each of our heads
Now to cut out the face so we can see and breath.
Gotta make sure it fits without falling off.
After putting his on, Troy realized we would need ear holes.

Next step, spray paint
And covering the heads with poster board to give them a smooth look.

More spray paint, this time on the heads.

Getting so close.
Can't forget the Lego hands.

All finished!
Troy figured he spent about 100 hours on this project.  While we gave him a hand here and there, he designed and built these customers mostly all by himself.

They turned out AMAZING!
We were a huge hit!

And we had so much fun!!!!
