Chicken Pox

The last day of Spring Break, we noticed a rash on Miles and a few bumps on the other 2.

We went to the doctor 1st thing Monday morning to be told we had chicken pox and needed to stay home from school until all dots were clear.

Miles broke out the worst with more than 250 dots on him on Wednesday.

So we spent another week out of school, only this time at home.
The kids were GREAT the entire week. We played school, games and in the backyard. They also did all their school work with very little complaining.

Jeremiah was just about to get his 3rd prefect attendance award for Cub Scouts. We couldn't let him miss his last Den meeting. We planned to Skype him in but Internet issues made that impossible so he spent the meeting on a speaker phone and participated as he was there.

On an airplane, not sure where they were going.

Scout Show

The day after we returned from Moab, there was a Scout Show in Denver. Troy had to work but the kids and I decided to go check it out.

We ran into Deanna, one of our Brownies and her family.

There was so much to do and SO many Scouts!

Can't call it a Scout day without roasting marshmallows for smores.

Jeremiah crossing the rope bridge.

They started a fire by rubbing these 2 huge sticks together.

Jeremiah lifting the 600 pound bridge thanks to the pulley system these Scouts built.

Jeremiah tested out the homemade hover craft.

Lexi's turn on a road bridge.

We had a fabulous day with all the fun activities. I'm proud to be a part of a Scout family!

Time to go home

Our last night camping, was an eventful one for Mom and Dad. The wind had been blowing and as soon as I went to bed, the storm really started. Thunder, rain and wind. It was loud and kind-of scary in the tent. The kids didn't wake, but I couldn't get to sleep. A thunder storm rolling through those canyons is LOUD. The wind whipped the tent around ALL NIGHT LONG. I got very little sleep and at 6:30 am, I woke Troy up and asked if we could just pack up to head home. We all got up and got to packing. Jeremiah was a huge help packing away all the camping chairs and toys without being asked. The wind was blowing so hard we could barely fold the tent and the sand was getting in our eyes. We packed up in record time and pulled away from camp at 7:45am. We went into town and grabbed some McDonald's for breakfast.

We then stopped at Moab's Rock and Fossil Shop to ask about some fossils the kids had found. The super friendly and informative owner of the shop gave us some history about where we had been camping. The area was once the ocean floor where the crionoids we found once lived. Crionoids are marine animals. Troy and I have been camping along this same road in Moab for 12 years yet we had never found any fossils. Once the kids found a few we began to look and sure enough, they were everywhere. Another joy of seeing through the eyes of a child!!!

We had a wonderfully relaxing week enjoying nature and each other!!

Goodbye Moab, we'll see you next year!
