Time to go home

Our last night camping, was an eventful one for Mom and Dad. The wind had been blowing and as soon as I went to bed, the storm really started. Thunder, rain and wind. It was loud and kind-of scary in the tent. The kids didn't wake, but I couldn't get to sleep. A thunder storm rolling through those canyons is LOUD. The wind whipped the tent around ALL NIGHT LONG. I got very little sleep and at 6:30 am, I woke Troy up and asked if we could just pack up to head home. We all got up and got to packing. Jeremiah was a huge help packing away all the camping chairs and toys without being asked. The wind was blowing so hard we could barely fold the tent and the sand was getting in our eyes. We packed up in record time and pulled away from camp at 7:45am. We went into town and grabbed some McDonald's for breakfast.

We then stopped at Moab's Rock and Fossil Shop to ask about some fossils the kids had found. The super friendly and informative owner of the shop gave us some history about where we had been camping. The area was once the ocean floor where the crionoids we found once lived. Crionoids are marine animals. Troy and I have been camping along this same road in Moab for 12 years yet we had never found any fossils. Once the kids found a few we began to look and sure enough, they were everywhere. Another joy of seeing through the eyes of a child!!!

We had a wonderfully relaxing week enjoying nature and each other!!

Goodbye Moab, we'll see you next year!
